Stash Note 61

Added to the stash this week were these beauties here. First of two fat quarters bought across the road at Tikki. The wonderful grey sewing pattern print is from Vintage Notions from 'Red Rooster Fabrics' and the thread fabric 'Sew Happy' from Monaluna.

And those three prints below were bought at Sew Mama Sew in the SALE !. Left is the stripy number I already used in my "When Lucy met Daisy' quilt, in the middle 'Squiggle Cream Fuchsia' from the 'Washi' collection and to the right 'Floral Confetti Multi from the 'From little things' collection. I always loved that print and am so happy that I managed to get it as a bargain. 

Stash Note 44

Happy snowy Sunday everybody !
Well I returned yesterday morning from holiday. I was relaxed, tanned and still feeling the warmth of St. Lucia.....until I landed on a freezing tarmac at Gatwick airport. I think it was minus 5 and my house felt roughly the same.

So instead of unpacking I went first for a fast walk to walk of the flight and get used to the cold.  Hideous as it sounds but it worked and when I returned home I felt lots better and got on with the day.

Today's stash note is a mixed bag of fabrics that I accumulated over the past weeks. First of some stripy numbers (because one can never have enough stripy numbers).


This images shows from top to bottom:

• a multicoloured wonky striped print of which I don't have the name unfortunately bought at Tikki Ltd.
• blue and white stripes from Sevenberry bought at 'Fabricinspirations'
• Line Stripe Black
• Line Stripe Red both from the collection 'Meet the Gang' bought at Delray Fabric
• Sweet shoppe pastel stripes multi bought again at Tikki Ltd.

The next items are again from the fabulous fabric shop 'fabricinspirations' and show a panel called 'RK Animal Party too'. The panels come in 60 cm length.

 

And this fantastic print is from Alexander Henry and is titled 'Boule Bool'

I don't think much needs to be said about my utter devotion to Meldoy Miller's fabric design other than that the new collection is just perfect and to me the best of the three so far.

This fat quarter bundle was bought at Fabricworm.

This is again the slightly heavier cotton linen fabric that has a 15 % Linen content.

Countdown to Christmas - part 3 -

42 trees and whole lot of sashing later and the top of my 'Countdown to Christmas' quilt is finished !
I can't get enough of this fabric as it is so darn cute !
The big question is now what to do with the back and how to quilt it. I am adamant to use the entire jelly role plus all the left overs from the background fabric on this quilt which proofs a bit of a challenge.

Originally I was thinking to quilt in the  same manner as the little mini quilts were done emphasising the trees but this will be to much work when it comes to burying the quilting threads. I don't think I can face hundreds upon hundreds of threads to bury. It did cross my mind to QAG this one but then again that would have presented a much bigger challenge as to the quilt back. I think for the method I am keen to try out the squares are to small.

So I am thinking something along the lines of crosses or stars which is sort of festive too isn't it ?
Any suggestion are more than welcome.

Countdown to Christmas - part 2 -

Hello there, it is Wednesday and that means half way through the working week......what a relieve.
Sunday night I made quite a bit of progress on my 'Countdown to Christmas' quilt for which I use the equally named Christmas collection from Sweetwater.

I cut templates for these blocks and will scan them today and post a link to them over the weekend in case anybody would like to use this pattern too. This was inspired by one of the Sweetwater quilts for their current 'Hometown' collection.

 

All of the trees are cut and sewn (I used a Jelly role) and most of the background fabric is attached. But I ran out and ordered some more from Hulu Craft which hopefully arrives today.

Stash Note 31

I could title this Pirates and Fruit really.
The first set of fabric is a fat quarter bundle of 'Pirates' by Emily Taylor for Riley Blake Designs. I love this collection as it is not shy with bold colours.

This fabric will be combined with other Pirate related fabric I already bought and made into a quilt for my nephew.

 There is even a good amount of black in there and look at these sculls, aren't they fantastic?

And this little fruity number here is 'Fruit Punch' by Timeless Treasure and for ones I didn't buy it but won it in a giveaway over at Jennifer Ellison's. I won this exactly at the same time when I was hosting my last giveaway which I guess means that there is some sort of correlation between me winning and hosting give-aways.........

Stash Note 28

I am not going Postal but Coastal for a change.
All Summer I have been waiting for this addition to my stash to arrive. I saw the preview of this collection on the Fat Quarterly blog one day and was immediately hooked.  The creative mind behind this fabric is Emily Herrick from  Crazy Old Ladies Quilts.


I have no idea why the blog is called like that but I can assure you there is absolutely nothing 'Old Lady' about this collections. It is colourful, fresh, innovative and vibrant. This isn't the entire set as I think Michael Miller have some trouble with the delivery but this will already give you a fair idea about the fabulousness of it all.

The bottle tops is my favourite print and I think this will make a wonderful quilt back,
don't you agree ?

Stash Note 27

In this week's stash note I would like to share with you fabric that has become really precious to me; my growing stash of numbers and letters fabric. I am sort of starting to collect these and am particular interested in monochrome prints. If  you know of any such fabrics then please let me know. I think they make excellent additions to quilts and add interest and fun.

These two are from Cosmo Cricket and are called 'Tailor Made Ruler' and were bought at FreshModerFabric.

This was bought at the fabulous 'Simply Solids' on-line store in in the UK. These two prints are from Lakehouse and are called 'Seed Catalogue'. The one to the right is white on white and doesn't photograph well at all. I just think they are fabulous. 

The vintage linen blend newspaper fabric is a superb Kokka print bought at the Eternal Maker. 

 This fabulous print here is Lecien Vintage Art Store and was bought at my local quilt Store Tikki Ltd.

Stash Note 26

Yes you can see some more blenders. I came across the Perl Bracelet in Galosh the other day and loved the color and the pattern so much that I had a look at the collection. I am not a big friend of the 1001 Peeps pattern but somehow overlooked the very good blenders that are part of the collection. 

In the first image from left to right you can find 'Jewels' in Jinnee Orange, Basra Blue and Persian Blue (aren't these marvelous names !) and the next three are 'Illusion' in the same colour range.

 The four prints in this image are Pearl Bracelet in the same color range except for the one on the far right which is in the color Galosh.

All are bought from Fresh Modern Fabric on Etsy.

Sugar and Spice - part 1 -

Well I did say at the beginning of the months that I had an HST urge. And if one has an urge one should do something about it, shouldn't one ? Thankfully this particular urge is fairly easily satisfied.

Stash Note 23

The fabric I like to share with you today doesn't need much introduction. It is the third installment of the 'Far Far Away' collection from the most talented Heather Ross. The new collection is just as beautiful as the last  but colour wise a little more sedated perhaps. Also some of the prints come in a lighter version of the Kokka typical cotton/linen blend. The lighter blend is better suited for sewing garments and perhaps also for quilts but there it doesn't matter so much in my opinion. What I do find a bit puzzling with this collections is that only some prints have the lighter mix and others not, it creates an inconsistency that I personally find a bit unnecessary.

And these are some of my favorite from the collection. I love the blue and the whimsical drawings of the flowers and laundry lines.

Stash Note 22

A while back I ordered a variety of prints, some of them excellent blenders, others to built a stash of Pirate related fabrics for a Pirate quilt for my nephew and others because they were just so damm cute. How can you resist those dogs ?

The prints in the first column are from Timeless Treasure 'Dogs', the second from Alexander Henry 'In the Kitchen Farmdale' and the third also from Alexander Henry 'Bizness Pirate' range.

They were all bought at Pink Chalk fabric.

Anybody who starts thinking that I have something bordering close to an obsession for blenders is forgiven......but here is another most utterly gorgeous set bought at the fabulous Fabriworm shop.

These are Kei Honeycomb on white background. These are also available on coloured background and I am also harbouring a desire for them but I think I let that go........sigh........sigh.......

Stash Note 20

I have discovered a new Fabric line and company that simply has blown me away. Last week I browsed around my favourite on-line fabric stores and found that Fabricworm had a new fabric bundle in stock with the most amazing colour and pattern. 

The line is called 'Long Live Vintage' and is from a company called Adornit which is a "family-owned, woman-run scrapbook and home décor manufacturing company". In fact Adornit is run by a mother and her three daughters. As far as I can see they concentrate mainly on home decor but have brought out a couple of quilting weight fabric lines too.

Look at this blue leave pattern. Isn't that just wonderful. I know these are not necessarily everybody's colours but they are mine.  You know that I am a sucker for a fabric line that is coherent in colour and pattern and this is just another example where everything is spot on.

Unfortunately Fabricworm has already sold out of most of the line and I could only find one other shop that stocks this new line which is in Australia unfortunately. Hopefully other shops will discover this line too soon.

I have written previously about my love of 'Oakshott' shott cottons and  I couldn't resist to indulge the Brit Bee members and myself with some of this gloriously luxurious fabric for my turn as the Queen Bee for the month of July.

This here is 'Cranberry' and 'White Sand' from their Colourshott range. So Brit Bee member and non Brit Bee followers what do you think I am going to ask the Brit Bee Ladies to make for me ???

Don't you just love blenders !

Look at this goodness from Patricia Bravo. The collection is called 'Oval Elements' and although this is quilt weight feels a lot more like voile. Striking colours and geometric elements.

 Isn't this orange here delicious.....I kinda want to bite into it.....might be a wee dry though.
