Single Girl quilt {Rings cut}

A progress report on my single girl quilt project.  I am sewing the quilt together doing with about 200 other people. For those of my readers who actually don't know what a single girl quilt is, here a bit of explanation. The Single Girl quilt is a pattern from the very gifted designer Denyse Schmidt. Denyse Schmidt is a designer and maker of quilts and fabric, gorgeous fabric I might add and one of my future stash notes will feature her fabric.
I have already based one of my quilts loosely on one of Denyse' designs (my Cranberry Crush quilt).

The Single Girl Quilt is a quilt with curves which I guess is the reason a lot of people don't like to attempt it as it screams Difficulties ! Problems ! Frustration !. Oddly enough that was never the obstacle for me not to attempt it, it was more that it wasn't my favourite patters of hers. But I jumped on the chance to join in the quilt-along that is run by the wonderful Katy, Nova and Megan. It is really fun to be doing the quilt together with so many people and it has been very helpful and inspiring to have discussions on our flickr website about progress and issues. Katy has given me great advice on colour. Katy you are a star !!!

And surprise, surprise I am really starting to love the pattern although admittedly sewing together all 444 pieces of the rings was a little bit boring to say the least.......but they look so pretty now.

Next step is to piece the background to each of the four ring segments. Might give it a go tomorrow.

Lovely weekend everybody !!
