Stash Note 95

New to my stash is the 'Paint' Collection by Carrie Bloomstone for Windham. This is her second collection after the very succesful "Collage" the year before. I sort of missed that one or let's say it took me a while to like it and when I finally did it was mostly gone. C'est la vie.

So with this collection I went all out and bought a fat quarter set of all prints. They are wonderfully different and the colours are to die for.

The collection has many prints and quite a selection of marbled solids. I have tried to bring the vibrancy of the colours out in the photographs but they really don't to the turquoise, yellow and orange justice.

The pattern is very similar to the 'Collage' collection and to be honest which is great given that I missed it the first time around.

Stash Note 94

Freshly back from a much needed holiday in Sicily I thought it might be a nice idea to share with you some newish fabric I have added to my stash. Newish because I have had the fabric a while and because everybody has been talking about them for months now, I thought I leave the blogging about it for a bit.

Mustang

I am of course talking about the new fabric designer "shop" of Cotton & Steel. The designers debuted their first collection at Spring Market and I believe their second is a major magnet at the fall market.

Moonlit

I ordered three of the collections and whilst I am obviously impressed with each of them I was particularly taken by the fact that they are all coordinated.

Hatbox

This fact only hit me when I was asked by my lovely neighbour to make twin baby quilts for her to gift to a relative. The twins are girls and she requested colours of pink, purple, yellow and whatever else I thought would work with it.

I had my package of Cotton & Steel lovelies sitting on a shelf and wasn't really sure what to do with them to be honest...that is until this commission came in. So I grabbed the entire stash and sorted out all the relevant colours and that is when it hit me how wonderfully colour coordinated they are. It was a breeze to put something pleasing together.

The fabric is cut and ready to be sewn into two quilt tops that are the same but different. Watch the space....

Stash Note 93

I love Japanese fabric and have an ever growing stash of it (that really needs to be used). Trawling through Etsy I spotted some new collections by Suzuko Koseki for Yuwa Fabrics at this wonderful Etsy shop called Miss Matatabi.

And I just couldn't help my trigger-happy-fabric-shopping-finger and within minutes I had a wonderful array of prints in my shopping basket.

All are by Suzuko Koseki as these Patchwork squares above and below. They are seriously cool.

 Then I have a bit of text print added and which is called 'Fashion Magazine'.

And this wonderful lime green print aptly names 'Fashion Window'.

Stash Note 91 'First of Infinity Route 66 by Kumiko Fujita for Lecien

Happy bank holiday weekend everybody. Isn't it the best feeling today knowing that tomorrow is not Monday...well it is but not the usual Monday...if you know what I mean.

So I thought this is the good day for a lovely stash note.
Please meet the 2nd collection of "First of Infinity" by Kumiko Fujita for Lecien. This instalment is aptly named 'Route 66' and is again all about number, letters and road signs.

This 2nd collection has a lot more whites in its set than the first and includes as the name suggests many signs that are on the famous Route 66.

The fabric is still available at Pink Castle Fabrics.

Stash Note 89

This really is a mini stash note but I could not resist to buy two additional fat quarters of Pam Kitty Picnic recipe (featured in stash note 88)  and the best thing is that I bought them at Tikki across the road.
Tina has lots of prints from this vast collection !!

I already had the Periwinkle one and added the red and white. Aren't they the cutest.

Stash Note 88

Towards the end of last year I saw that 'Lakehouse Dry Goods' brought out a new collection called 'Pam Ketty Picnic Recipes'. The name alone is fantastic.

It is a huge collection and I could have easily bought the lot but I restrained myself greatly and just got two of the floral prints and the three fantastic coloured text prints. Isn't that periwinkle blue to die for ?

All were bought at the Sewmeasong on Etsy.

Stash Note 87

Although I haven't bought much fabric this past year a few bits and bops do flatter into my house occasionally. And looking back at what I bought this year it strikes me that I bought mostly stash builders and fabric with text patterns. I suppose it signals that I love those most.

So this last stash note of the year is no exception. I added these wonderful prints in blue, white and red to my stash.

This collection is from Windham and is called 'A is for'. It really is beautiful and has also some floral patterns. 

I bought these at the Fat Quartershop. I also bought as you can see in the next image a flying gees ruler and half square triangle rulers from 'Bloc Loc'. They are nothing short of fantastic and make squaring up those HSTs a real joy (and it can be a right pain if you are making for several hundreds). I used them on my churn dash quilt and found that they are not only accurate but make also for a faster process. They are available from the manufacturer directly but I bought them at the Fat Quartershop as I found the shipping cost from Bloc-Loc much to high for overseas customers.

Stash Note 86

There are some fabric collections I really get excited about and one of those is the recently released 'Minimalista' by Art House Gallery fabrics. It is full of striking patterns in four great colours; black, a deep yellow called Honeycomb, turquoise and and watermelon red.

It is a great geometrical collection and I picked two prints that I particularly like and that make great stash additions.

I bought the Prisma and Optical in each of the four available colours. There are several more prints in the collection so go and check them out on the AGF webside here

 One is striking the other a little more subtle and I think they make a good pair.

I bought my set at Fatquatershop but other on-line stores have it. I don't think anybody in the UK has it yet though. 

Stash Note 85

It is Sunday, the clock has turned to Winter time, it is raining and a storm is brewing over the British Isles..... so how about some fabric to cheer us all up ?

This fabric collection is 'Sun Print' by Alison Glass for Andover and is widely available now. What I love about this text print is that it comes in a variety of colours and not just black on white. There is also one print that has white text on white text. I saw this the last time on Annie's Seed Catalogue from Lake House Dry Goods. Oddly enough I bought this particular print by accident and at the time really did not know what to do with it. But since then I have used it liberally in my low volume projects (here ) as an alternative to a solid and that print actually has become one of my most precious ones.  (You can see the print I am talking about in this link but it is not available anymore and the post written about it in the link is regarding fabric dying).

Stash Note 84

It's true I actually bought some fabric again and in fact a few lots that I want to share with you over the next couple of weeks.

So let's start with a targeted buy that in fact has already been cut up ready to be used in a new quilt.

Meet 'Dem Bones' by Sarah Watson. I spotted this little fat quarter package at Fabricworm a while ago while out looking for something else entirely. But as I have been seeking to extend my grey fabric stash, this package with those lovely skulls ( can skulls be lovely ?) was just the ticket.

Stash Note 83

I think chevron patterned fabric has grown to be a staple in many a quilters stash. It took me a while to grow a fondness for them but now I sort of don't want to be without. So I splashed out on a fat quarter pack when I was in the US in May.

They are just so versatile and make me smile in their bright colours.

Stash Note 82

Following my last post about the quilt magazine 'Patchwork tsushin' I couldn't help myself and buy a good selection of the featured fabric of their last edition no 174. It is just to die for.

Meet the 'First of infinity' fabric collection from Kumiko Fujita produced by Lecien.

Don't you just love those fab text prints. And for a change we get text in bright and bold colours. Hurray !

Stash Note 80

The fabric I want to share with you today really needs very little introduction. I think Pear Bracelet by Lizzy House is probably one of the most popular quilting basics there is. It is modern and versatile and simply has IT.

Good of Lizzy House that she together with Andover have now brought out an entire collection consisting just of Pear Bracelet - and that in every colour you can imagine. 

What is interesting is that this large set includes quite a few subtle colours that I want to single out here rather than the bright and bold ones that I of course love. But it is the softer tones that are new and therefore worthwhile pointing out. Somehow the bold black one sneaked in but that is new too and quite stunning in its extreme contrast.

It is a big set and is available in its entirety at the Village Haberdashery but you can also build a bundle yourself. I just could not decide so went for the whole set (poor excuse I know).

Stash Note 79

I love the colour blue but sadly this isn't a colour featured often in any fabric collection let a lone one that is devoted to it. My 'Hey Ho Sailor' quilt that I made in Nov 2011 is still one of my favorite makes and actually the only one that I still have a longing for (I sold it to a very good friend and it now resides in New Zealand). I have therefore started to collect the same fabrics again and have almost enough for an entire quilt that will then be just for me.

But the other day I actually came across a blue and white fabric collection that took my breath away and I clicked the buy button without hesitation.

Meet 'Ravena' by 'Dear Stella':

The fabric line is inspired by vintage textiles and hand-stamped patterns from India but it also reminds me of Dutch tiles somehow.

I am going to combine it with Kona nightfall for a large all blue and white quilt. Isn't this a beautiful collection ?

Stash Note 78

How about a few basics ?
While trailing my favorite online stores a few weeks back I cam across the Michael Miller Stitch Circles collection at Fabricworm and instantly took to these prints in their wonderfully bright colours.

They remind a lot of Pear Bracelet by Lizzy House but these prints have a subtler feel to it. 

The yellow and orange are my favorites.
