Katie Jump Rope - a finished quilt

This was my first dive into my rather large Denyse Schmidt stash. I avoided cutting into the precious fabric for so long that it started to get ridiculous. And I am so glad I did cut into it because surprise, surprise 'Katie Jump Rope' looks a lot better in a quilted rather than folded form on the shelf.

This was a fun quilt to make and not very taxing on the brain as it basically put itself together. There wasn't much thinking about colour or block combinations. I just took the bundle, cut, sewed, arranged and sewed a bit more. Just what the doctor ordered.

I love the combination of the print with the 'Painters Canvas' solid from Laura Gunn as it adds a little texture to the whole affair.

I quilted in double diagonal lines with a 40 w Aurifil off-white thread.

The back is again a print from one of my favorite lines, 'Summersville' by Lucie Summers which I think fits this quilt wonderfully.

I chose a stripy number in black and white for the binding to give a little vavavoom. This baby quilt is 48" x 55.5" (1.22 m x 1.41 m) in size and can be found in my on-line shop under this listing.

  3. What a gorgeous quilt! Glad to hear I'm not the only one that feels sorry to cut up gorgeous material! I've put an end to that nonsense too and have 3 quilts all going at once!

Thank you for your comments! I love reading them and will answer every question you have on my projects. But I have a very busy daytime job and am therefore not able to thank each and every comment. Please don't be offended if I won't reply.
